(Especially In The Long Run!)
Entrepreneur by now you’ve definitely heard the term or sage advice, (or at least you should have!) Don’t be a one trick pony, right? And when it comes to your overall front or back end cash flow generating dynamics.
This particular advice could be the hinge which swings open the door (extremely wide!) To some previously untapped long term marketing possibilities. When you have reliable income streams of some kind already in place. Or you or some of your top JV (Joint Venture) or top cross promotional partners can strategically put them in place. (Typically structured on the back end of your ventures.)
You’re free to be or quickly become far more creative and profitable. Especially over the long term. Because sadly a staggering 90-95% of your major competitors only see the initial front end of their potential income streams.
And as a direct result of their rather shallow and spotty understanding of “how” things really work in the business world in general. And the digital online world in particular. They often miss out on the real major – long term-profit producing opportunities. Which are often just below the initial not so profitable surface. Have a much closer look and then you be the ultimate judge. Fair enough?
Entrepreneur Don’t Let Over Focusing On Strictly Generating Front End Gross Profits! ( Prevent You From Profiting Long Term Because You’re Strategically Building Brand Visibility!)
Ladies & gentlemen, (sadly) here is an all too common situation which (depending on how) you actually see and interpret things. You either miss the long term, previously untapped marketing possibilities. Or you not only see the long term unlocked marketing/promotional possibilities.
And you run with it as hard and fast as you can. Here’s “what” tends to happen (far too often!) to newbie freelancers of all types.
Let’s say a major influencer (of any particular market) decides to create one of the simplest potentially profitable info products to both use a free list building lead magnet giveaway.
And also (possibly) later on down the road as a valued “fast action” free bonus worth X. For every customer who? Take your pick.
1.) Every customer who invests in a higher end product, service or higher tier affiliate product or service worth X. And the free bonus has a perceived value of X.
2.) Every customer who provides a potentially bank account filling testimonial of some kind. (Meaning, either video, (the much preferred first choice!) Or audio or written. But any of the three definitely beats nothing.
3.) Or for signing up for a free 7-14 trial membership to X. They get the free bonus gift valued at X just for initially signing up for the trial. And whether they decide to upgrade or not. They get to keep and hopefully benefit from you or one of your top JV or cross promotional partners free giveaway with a perceived value of X.
So How Come So Many Aspiring Newbie Online Marketers Or Even Intermediate Freelancers Constantly Miss Out On The Real long Term Marketing Possibilities?
Great question and I’m so glad you finally asked it. Ladies and gentlemen for the sake of providing a graphic and hopefully extremely eye opening example. Lets use this strictly for marketing illustration purposes only. Theoretical example of a series of audio interviews or X part video recordings -from a virtual event.
The product creator creates this digital product along with X number of digital product bonuses worth X. And they reach out to at least three other qualified experts to help them create the various types of content.
And one of three or X number of featured experts or authorities is this up and coming aspiring freelancer. (Fast forward ahead.) So now that the digital product is finally complete. (And tested for glitches at least a few times.) And both the stand alone lead capture page(s) and sales page(s) along with website(s) are all finally complete.
And the initial front end opt in email follow up sequences are all written and tested and re-tested etc. And the initial front end advertising campaigns are steadily being rolled out. (Translated strategically A/B split tested.)
And the copy writer(s) for this particular project and being compensated. Both on the initial front and depending on whether they’re also receiving any parts of the back end gross profits as well. Say w
hat? (Welcome to the real world entrepreneur.)And since the product creator has sole ownership rights to the distribution rights of the product.
This way they can keep and maintain 100% control of the initial front end revenue generated from the front end end sales.
Lots Of Times Newbie Freelancers See Their Potential Front End Income Volume Shrink Or Get Buried In Various Initial Front Costs! (Which Magically Seem To Keep Adding Up!)
Case in point. Sadly far too many aspiring newbie freelancers get blindsided by the promotional costs reality shuffle. Huh? They typically, (until they learn better!) They will agree to be paid the bulk if not all of their percentage based on net profits. Not the initial front end gross profits.
Why the big fuss you ask? Well for the most part ladies & gentlemen. When you and I agree to be compensated based on the net gross front end profits only or primarily.
The accountants, (especially if they’ve ever been associated with any type of major Hollywood blockbusters. They add in each and every legitimate front end cost first. Say what? (Nod your heads cadets because it’s true.) And these get deducted from the front end gross profits first. Then and only then do any participants who agreed to be compensated from the front end net gross profits see and money whatsoever.
And if the product launch and post launch are successful enough. Say multi six figures or more. The massive exposure is worth a ton more on the back end.
Trouble is most newbie freelancers are so darn busy and laser focused on initial money being made on the front end. They usually don’t capitalize off of this all too common revenue generating reality as they could or should.
Of Course You Want To Be Compensated! (But Extremely Marketing Savvy Entrepreneurs Know There’s Definitely More Than One Proven Way To Do So!)
Since most experienced entrepreneurs the real money is typically not made off the very first initial front end sale anyway. a major J based pre and post product launch can and usually does lead to some major brand equity building for a lot of first time newbie participants.
And this name recognition can and often does lead to at least a bare bones minimum of the following potentially profitable activities.
1.) More invites to future key virtual or live events. Both as a potential guest speaker or guest panelists.
2.) More free laser targeted traffic being driven to their ecommerce site, WordPress blog or their stand alone opt in email building lead capture page.
(In fact as these newbie freelancers get more and more sophisticated. They can either create or have a stand alone landing page created. Where they giveaway something of value away to their targeted audience. And therefore start strategically building their very own opt in email subscriber base for literally pennies on the dollar.
Knowing going forward their ongoing follow up email drip campaign series will sell their target audiences their proven solutions. As well as their affiliate marketing or JV products and services etc.)
3.) They may get more major guest podcasting opportunities from literally all over the place. To the point they or you may be doing as many as one or two per week. (Imagine ‘what” this one particular benefit alone could do for both your laser targeted traffic and your sites overall (DA) Domain Authority ranking.
4.) You could also be invited to participate in any revisions of the original product.
5.) As a direct result of all the inside marketing/promotional secrets you and your fellow participants will have been exposed to. Now you’re in a much better position to consult other freelancers looking to participate in a launch. Or coach other newbie freelancers on what to look out for and how to position themselves for maximum long term profitability.
So hopefully going forward you can better appreciate “why” strategically creating income streams of all kind is definitely the way to go. Don’t you agree?

Hi Mark
Long-term marketing is what builds a business.
Short-term, commission-today at any cost approaches do not build a business, and usually leave you frustrated and dropping out real soon.
You’ve given the insights marketers need for doing some deep building and setting up the multiple streams of income necessary to have a real business, rather than a pitch.
