(Especially Since There’s Literally A Ton Of Untapped Marketing Possibilities All Over The Place!)
So I’ll let you in on why I published this particular post. I recently received a “DM” (Direct Message) from a follower of mine.
He’s account, who recently struck out on his own. But was finding it a little rough. Trying to grow his own practice. (No real surprise there, correct? Plus he mentioned he still hadn’t defined his specific niche yet.
(Which also explains “why” (he or you!) May be currently struggling. So I wrote this particular post.
In dedication of the fact. (Even though he or you may be reluctant to book a free 30 minute strategy session.) I asked the burning question in the title of this particular post. (As well as in the one I published on Linkedin too.)
Is this any way to try and run a successful accounting practice?
Successfully Promoting Or Marketing Your Practice! (Is Definitely Not About How Large Your current Promotional Budget Is!)
This struggling “follower” of mine on Linkedin. Reached out for help via a “DM” (Direct Message.)
And although he readily admits he’s struggling to build his solo accounting practice. (He still hasn’t reached enough of the point of desperation.
To where he was willing to book a free 30 minute strategy session. Instead, he and sadly some you! Prefer to try and pick my brain and other respected experts brains for free. So back and forth we went with a few “DM”s.
Finally, not wishing to waste any more time. I suggested at least three, extremely low cost, potentially high impact strategies.
He or you could at least inexpensively test.
And continually tweak as you go. In order to reach your maximum profit producing potential.
Building Relationships Which Are Rock Solid! (Is A Proven Long Term Marketing Strategy!)
First of all. Let’s add a dose of marketing/promotional reality to the mix, okay. Since he (or you!) May just starting out on your own. Attempting to build your own solo practice.
Some of your semi creative marketing strategies and tactics. May already be being used/implemented in your immediate local area.
By some of the more established firms and or solo practitioners. (In which case. If you’re going to attempt to at least still inexpensively test them. You’ll need to get even further creative.
Around the edges, agreed? So if you were to inquire about either:
Entrepreneur It’s Definitely Time To Put Your Expert Knowledge To Use!
1.) Being or becoming one of the regular contributors to a local organization. Which has a frequently published on or offline newsletter. Which targets local businesses.
See if they will let you start publishing an in house column. Or see if you can become their regular in house, trusted expert. When it comes to: (Whatever your particular area of expertise is. If that particular option is not currently available.)
2.) See if there are any active. Local on or offline. Local real estate investment clubs in your immediate area. If so. (If they don’t already have at least one or two reputable accountants or CPA’s as current members.
Join the group. With the intentions of periodically writing articles on your specific area of market proven expertise.
Offer to teach free, periodic on offline, 90-120 minute workshops. On both beginning and advanced Tax Saving strategies for either residential or commercial real estate investors.
(And an entirely different free, 90-120 minute lead generation workshop. Targeting local small business owners and service providers.)
Again, let’s say they already have it covered. Or flat out turn you down. Because you’ve just opened your solo practice.
And you don’t have much established rock star credibility yet.
Entrepreneur Don’t Let Your Current Lack Of Marketing Skill! (Or Limited Ad Budget Be Your Excuse For Not Attempting To Grow Your Practice!)
Case in point. This is when you can and definitely should get and remain extremely proactive and busy. On a massive and steadily growing B2B social media platform like Linkedin.
(Major hint: Be every mindful fellow profit seeking entrepreneur. Please don’t market, promote or advertise. 100% relying on your social media presence. Because your/our accounts could get temporarily permanently shutdown. Just saying.)
And also please keep in mine ladies & gentlemen. Don’t jump on any social media platform. And start posting. Then abruptly stop and vanish.
This won’t increase your odds of success on any specific platform. You have to be consistent. And make darn sure your profile is optimized correctly. For maximum profit producing efficiency.

Constantly wasting a ton of money. Running outrageously expensive, hit & miss traditional ad campaigns.
Fellow profit seeking entrepreneur I ask you. Is that any way to try and run a successful accountant practice?
