Email Marketing: The Three Types Of Leads And Why You Definitely All Three!

So how long have you been trying to successfully market/promote your various products, and or services online?

And have you also noticed, the most successful online marketers, whether they primarily market their very own products or services, or successfully market/promote various affiliate products or services etc.

They all seem to do so, via their highly responsive opt in email list?

You don’t think it’s a coincidence,(do you) their success is so closed to tied to having an ongoing and effective email marketing strategy? No way.

But here’s the thing ladies & gentlemen, the very first time, a potential lead (online visitor) lands on your WordPress website and or blog etc.(No matter how they originally got there.)

For whatever reasons, they are probably not there to purchase anything. In fact, the overwhelming statistics indicates, at least 98 -99% of all first time visitors, typically do not purchase anything, on their very first visit to anyone’s site.

So therefore, it’s critically important, (you and I) be extremely pro-active, in therms of building our various opt in email list.(In other words, you’ve gotta give your visitor/subscriber the chance to get to know, like and trust you first.)

So What Are Three Types Of Email Marketing Leads Your Business And Or Service Will Definitely Encounter And Ultimately Benefit From!

For just a second, think about two-local- people who initially meet online, and form an initial,(let’s get to know each other better) online relationship first.

Meaning; they frequently chat and exchange pertinent, personal info, like photos of themselves and close family members,or photos of recent vacations, and or photos of family or work related events etc.

However,if they are ever going to really get to know each other better, and find out if they have anything worth really pursuing, other than a casual online friendship, they need to actually meet in person at some point, correct?

Likewise, when it comes to successfully marketing to your online visitors, at some point, after they have visited your WordPress blog/ website enough times, they need to take the next step and opt into one of your email lists.

But ladies & gentlemen, even when they do so, you’ll basically be encountering the following, three types of opt in leads.

Meaning, the moment they become an email/mobile subscriber, doesn’t automatically mean, they instantly become a paying first time customer/client, and or repeat customer etc.(Would be nice! But it’s probably not gonna be that straight forward! )

Your Email Marketing Efforts Are The Beginning Front End Of Your Online Success Funnel.

Since the proper foundation has finally been laid, let’s take a look at the three various types of online leads, you will most certainly encounter, (throughout your entire online journey), and how you can ultimately benefit from them.

(Remember, there are a gazillion types of potential leads, you and I will definitely encounter, on or offline. But ultimately, they will boil down to the following three basic types.

1.) Potential lead type # one: One of the very first type of semi substantial leads, you can and definitely must encounter, in order to (truly) have any chance at -long term- online success, is your basic subscriber type!

Meaning, they were impressed or enticed enough, to exchange their contact info for your free list building lead magnet.

And they periodically open your email messages and (occasionally) click on your links. But rarely, (especially in the beginning) do they actually make any purchases. But the fact they remain on your list, means the potential exists for them to eventually become a paying customer/client.

(Important note: This first type of lead, may remain in this particular mode, for most of, or their entire time they’re one of your subscribers!)

Your Lead Generation Strategies Need To Be Comprehensive.

2.) Potential lead type # two: Your next type of (on or offline) lead, they go a little further into your engagement funnel. Case in point; not only have they given you their primary contact info.

But later on, (preferably) on an entirely different form, a little deeper into your list building, info gathering  funnel. They may also have filled out an entirely different form and offered their primary phone number as well.

Or they may have even checked a box on one of your pages, and requested a specialist, (aka) sales rep to follow up with them, within the next five business days or less.Or they may have even gone  little further, and filled out a form and booked a free X minute strategy/overview session, valued at X.

Which is always a very good sign.

Again, this particular type of lead, has gone  little further into your engagement process.Don’t you agree?

3.) Potential lead type # three: And your third type of lead, you’ll typically encounter, they are the ones, (typically), sooner or latter, even more so than the type just described in the previous paragraph.

They may initially go as far, to request, (either) via your sites contact page or by direct phone call, a written or verbal price quote of some kind.

And they too, will probably book a free strategy/overview session (directly) with you and or one your specifically trained specialist.Or they inquire about pricing and or availability of specific products and or services etc.

Ladies & gentlemen here’s the point. Since all three of these basic types of leads, are constantly moving throughout your entire sales funnel, at any given time. You always need all three, in order to maintain your business/services cash flow.

So hopefully, you can see and appreciate, how these three basic types of leads, are totally necessary, and how you can and ultimately benefit from encountering and nurturing all three!Any questions?

  1. Hey Mark,

Even with all of the new marketing technologies and tactics available to us, it’s still the simplest email marketing, that remains most effective. Typically as business-to-business marketers this is how we define leads. However, the hard truth is the person who downloaded our eBook might have solely been interested in its contents. That individual may or may not have any real interest in our category of product or service.

Our job as marketers is to take that persons fledgling curiosity and nurture it over time until it evolves into full blown product interest. The way to accomplish this at scale is through email marketing. When developing email marketing tracks geared at moving leads deeper into the sales funnel, there a a few design and copy writing elements that marketers should be mindful of. The subject line is how leads determine if they are going to read our email. So we need to spend time on thinking about ways which can improve our subject line.

Some ideas are create subject lines that clearly address our leads business problems, personalize subject lines, and make subject lines actionable. As marketers we want our readers to be sharing our content with their network and the best way to facilitate this is by incorporating social media sharing links into our emails. Additionally, each recipient of the email will have their own favorite social network so give them options to share on Google+, Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn.Email Marketing is still one of the most effective in moving leads efficiently through the sales funnel. Eventually, thanks for sharing your worthy thought with us.

    With best regards,
