As you previously discovered in part one of this series, about how to build trust in a relationship. Would you agree, that while trust in and of itself may not appear anywhere on any savvy entrepreneurs balance sheet.
Without a doubt, it is one of your most extremely valuable commodities?Absolutely! And the moment your customers/clients no longer feel like they can bestow that honor upon you, your businesses future is definitely in trouble!
Trust, is wanna those extremely valuable concepts, that if taken for granted or inadvertently sabotaged, you will suffer and your business may not ever recover from it! And no amount of fancy copywriting or fancy marketing tips and or techniques will help!
How To Build Trust In A Relationship Simply By Adding Value To Your Customer Or Clients Buying Experience!
Have you ever stayed in a four or five star world class hotel? If you have and (believe it or not) you had a problem, would you feel better if you had the personal cell phone number of the main manager in charge of customer complaints?
And your understanding was, you are encouraged to call, no matter what time of the day or night that it is. And your call is guaranteed to be returned in the next two hours or less! (Meaning- if it happens to be early morning.)
And of course, you’d call the front desk and they would already be in the process of trying to fix your problem. And of course this offer would only be extended to the customers that are spending at least $3,000 dollars per night or more!
But here’s a quick question for you. How would a very successful local Mom & Pop family style restaurant owner, use the adding value marketing concept, to help build trust in a relationship.
And thereby turn it into an extremely valuable long term, proactive marketing tool. Which ultimately, will definitely help you make more money. Entrepreneur, let’s do a quick side by (in your face) comparison. Let’s say you’re sort of torn between dining out at potential two local family style orientated restaurants.
Both serve excellent food, they’ve both got reasonable prices, (so far so good, right?) and they both have outstanding customer service! And they both have various type of marketing promotions that save you money. What’s not to like about this particular scenario so far, right? However, here’s where the pros, get separated from the Joe’s!
Meaning- your competitor has rightfully decided that their top twenty percent (translated) their loyal bread and butter -repeat- customers, definitely deserve a break!
So, every customer that spends over $20 dollars (or X) -for those marketing savvy eyeballs reading this, or any new first time visitors, guess what? You automatically get a laminated index sized card, that entitles you -and your accompanying guests- to come into the restaurant and no matter what time it is, morning, noon or evening.
You can and your guest, can order whatever you’re actually in the mood for! Say what? Think about it for a second. Even though it’s two o’clock in the afternoon, but you and your guests are still in the mood for some pancakes , bacon & eggs etc.
Given that choice, and all other factors still being pretty much the same. Which restaurant would you choose? You got that right! So hopefully, you can see and appreciate how to build trust in a relationship, is a whole lot easier to not only accomplish but maintain, when you use the adding value marketing approach!

Helps you successfully move to the very next level or two.
Great insight, Mark! As a marketing manager with over 13 years experience in the industry, I know how important the trust element is for businesses selling online (or anyone else who wants to develop an established presence online!).
The fact is, as a general rule, people will avoid anything they are skeptical about. This is why social networking is such a valuable tool today! By interacting with potential customers or website visitors, one is able to develop trust and amiability.
Sadly, so many business professionals do not fully appreciate this. In fact, I recently had a discussion with my employer about the need to increase our social presence online and was told that it was “not a priority”. Go figure lol…
Anyway, you keep up the good work. Always a pleasure reading your informative posts!
Awesome Jameyson!
Now that’s validation! Thank you so much!

Hi Mark,
Great Post!! I love this kind of posts with lots of value delivered. So, thank you!!
Yes, building a relationship of trust with people is key to success. You need to sell them on yourself first, and then build a relationship until they have a reason to remain loyal to you. That’s how trust is built, in my humble opinion.
Also, I totally agree with what you shared in the video about blog commenting. Blog Commenting is the lifeblood of a blog, and that is what actually separates it from a static website. As the conversation builds, so will your relationship with your readers and so will your blog’s popularity. Just as you don’t like to be ignored when you address someone in person, you don’t want to ignore your readers when they address you through a blog comment. So, it’s a two-way avenue.
Thanks Mark for a great post shared. Have yourself a great rest of the week.
Be Blessed,

Thank you Neamat!
And yes, your extremely kind words have gone straight to mt head!LOL!
But, I really like your comparison between the unpleasantness of being ignored in the real
world and ignoring a comment left on your blog!
That is an excellent point, and even as obvious as it seems, once you pointed it out!
Until you did, I had never considered just how much sense that makes! Thank you so much
for sharing it and stopping by to share your thoughts and offer your continued support!
Both as always are greatly appreciated!
Hi Mark,
Brilliant video! When you speak of comments, I fully agree. Commenting has been the backbone of my business for a long time now. It is imperative that we answer all our comments….because, like you mention in the video, you never know where it will lead.
Reciprocating, going to that person’s blog and leaving a good comment is also the other half of it.
I cannot tell you how many times I get people reading my blog because of a comment I have left on someone’s post.
This is how we build relationships. I’ve become friends with people all over the world and that is one of the things I so enjoy and am grateful for.
But, back to business…. I rather have loyal followers of quality than bazillion followers that lack reciprocity.
This is how we can build trust and form good relationships. Yes, I’ve done it and been a guest on blogs, had people randomly write about my product/services, but most of all created great friendships.
Creating these friendships are so important. If I know someone who is selling xyz…I will promote them because I know they are trustworthy.
All this only leads to success in our own business.
Great topic!
