So here’s a quick question: entrepreneur you are sick and tired of blowing a small fortune on the various conventional advertising methods aren’t you? Which means, hopefully you’re finally ready to discover “how to ” build trust in a relationship “, so that you can save a small fortune!
Excuse me? You’re saying you don’t see how the two are even remotely related? Fair enough: Have you ever gotten an (unexpected) telephone call from some local business that you’ve never heard of and (surprise) they desperately wanted to try and sell you something.
Or you open your cable bill and low and behold, there is some piggyback mailing piece,(that you definitely didn’t ask for) included in it. And once again intended to try and sell you something! Sound familiar?
Or what about this one: you head over to your local mall, and just as you’re entering the building, you unexpectedly get approached by some well meaning stranger, asking you if you “like to keep your options open?” Those of you that are familiar with a certain home based business industry will most certainly recognize that one, correct?
Here’s the point. Did you ask for any of those small or midsize business owners to solicit you? Nope! Do they really have any idea whether or not you’re actually a good fit for their business, product or service yet! Nope! Not a clue!
You Build Trust In A Relationship And Watch Your Advertising Costs Go Down!
So “how” many times has this happened? You get a phone call or a text from a (friend, colleague, neighbor or relative) -rarely a spouse!) What’s up with that? Anyway, they’re all excited about this that or the other!
Talking a mile a minute about “why” you absolutely have to (either) go see this movie, attend this free workshop or listen to some podcast audio recording! Ever happen? Absolutely! Now here’s the $64,000 dollar question.
How many times do you think that happens and the person calling or texting is all excited about your business, product or service? Be nice wouldn’t it? So here’s the point; instead of wasting a fortune on outrageously expensive traditional advertising mediums.
1.) First: At every opportunity (entrepreneur) instead of trying to sell your customers/clients this, that and the other. Like a staggering 97% or more of your major competitors do! (With little to no bankable results!)
Instead, educate them about the major issues and or trends that affect and concern your clientele! Edu-marketing (education based marketing) is far more effective (translated) and profitable way to increase your long term sales.
Because by extending these extremely critical components of the overall sales process, your best customers and clients will definitely come to trust and probably like you more, as a direct result as well!
3.) Third, whenever and wherever you can. Add value to your product and or service. For ex: If sell some real fancy software, offer free (or at) your actual cost -high level-training of some kind for your best customer/clients.
First off, by offering either them or their staff more hands on training. It’s far more likely your best customers/clients will develop even more of an appetite for (both your future) and your current products and services. Plus you’ll systematically build way more trust faster! Also, this approach is far cheaper in the long run, than traditional advertising methods.
They’ll champion your business, product or service(s) to their friends, family, colleagues, neighbors and associates far more often! They’ll constantly blast your presence all over social media.

Hey Mark,
Trust is huge! I will always believe that whether it’s online or offline.
I think being genuine is part of it. If you have a product to sell, I’m sure at some point you would appreciate the sell. It is all about the approach for me.
I enjoyed the post man take care Mark.

And I totally agree with you, without trust, the cash register doesn’t ring. At least
not as often!

Hi Mark,
You hit one of my favorite issues – Trust!
It doesn’t happen overnight, but it is something that does evolve over time. It is one of the most effective marketing tools we have and we need to bear that in mind all the time.
The old “Know, Like and Trust” factor remains first whenever we are meeting people. To me, it is just being yourself, engagement with people on our blogs, and social media, and even just going into a local cafe!
As marketers, we have that marketing mindset and when people ask me what I do, I tell them with all the true enthusiasm I have in my heart.
It resonates with some, and there is the start of a beautiful friendship. From there, I’ll just keep teaching them and being by their side.
Giving is the best way to earn trust. Yes..trust must be earned.
Thanks for this great post.

You are so welcome coach!
And thanks for extremely kind words. I have to agree with you, meaning, just being yourself
and being sincere, goes an awful long way to building rock solid trust.
And you’re absolutely right when you point out, it doesn’t matter whether you’re interacting in your local
cafe or if you’re interacting on social media etc.
BTW, I absolutely love the picture with your feet up!That’s a happy and successful entrepreneur!LOL! But
it’s gotta be earned!
The harder and smarter you work, the sooner you get to put your feet up! Sounds fair to me! Thanks
for stopping by and sharing your thoughts and showing your support.
Both are greatly appreciated and needed!
