Being Your Own Boss: Why A Little Marketing Creativity And Elbow Grease Is More Than Enough Fuel!

  (To Initially Get You Out Of The Gate And Running!)

Okay let’s all be brutally honest here! If you currently work or have ever worked for somebody else in any capacity. Be it the city, district, state, mom & pop or the federal government etc.

And you absolutely did not like your job. 😎 Who hasn’t at some point fantasized about being your own boss. And if you are currently pursuing your entrepreneurial dreams to any degree.

Mega congrats, because by now you definitely know it clearly takes a whole lot more effort than merely dreaming. To make your goals a reality, right?

But still in all. This about the long term marketing/promotional possibilities. When you, not someone else gets to control your ultimate destiny. Entrepreneur you simply have to like the sound of that, correct?

It Doesn’t Matter If You’re An East Texas Handyman Or Not! (Your Target Market Needs Your Proven Expertise Right Now!)

So  let me share with you the true life story behind this particular case study. And even though there are a lot of moving real life parts which are already in place.

Others will be used strictly for marketing demonstration purposes only. (And hopefully sparks some of your currently dormant marketing creativity. 😀 )

So some relatives of mine are finally having some long over do remodeling/construction work done. And they’ve garnered the services of a reputable handyman.

He has been servicing the greater east Texas area for many years. And has countless extremely satisfied customers. But another young man whose also doing some construction type of remodeling work for them.

He’s really just getting started. And during a recent conversation with him. He said he was extremely open to exploring, (inexpensively testing!) Some low hanging fruit, non traditional marketing/promotional strategies and tactics.

 

In The Beginning Let Your Previously Untapped Marketing Creativity Be Your Initial Fuel Forward!

Say for example. Since he’s determined to be proactive with his initial marketing/promotional efforts. So here’s a few of the hypothetical marketing strategies and tactics. He can at least inexpensively test the following.

1.) First:  Both he and his current and future staff will pass out his direct response type of business cards. Side “B” if nothing else. Will have a referred by section on the back side.

And his staff will print their names on the back side. And each time a potential 1st time customer contacts his company. He will ask the potential 1st time customer to read whose name, (meaning) who referred them.

And he (or you!) agree to pay them 5 – 10 or X% of either his gross or net of the initial front end.

2.) Second: Once or as soon as he (or you!) “discovers” through strategic A/B split testing which direct response type of business card or flyer consistently generates the most lucrative responses.

Then both he, hist staff, relatives and besties start consistently including his (or your!) business cards in his/their local outgoing mail.

You Definitely Don’t Need An Outrageously Large Ad Budget In Order To Get Things Moving In The Right Direction!

Because sooner or later. Someone will pass it to someone. Who will in turn pass it to someone. And a project of some kind will be created. And money voluntarily changes hands.  Over and over again.

And for literally a fraction of the typical upfront out of pocket costs. Who can argue with an outcome like that? 😀

3.) Third: He (or you!) will proactively market/promote to the following three potential customer bases. 1st time customers, veterans and senior citizens.

Senior citizens typically have kids, grand kids, neighbors and besties of the same age. And a positive nod from them. Could and probably will  lead to even more business for literally pennies on the dollar. 😀

And there’s is a potentially lucrative, previously untapped back end just waiting to be leveraged. Are you starting to see and truly appreciate, the potentially lucrative the long term benefits of being your own boss? Say yes. 😀
