Asset Management:How Far Too Many Savvy Entrepreneurs Accidentally Shoot Themselves In The Foot!Part Two

Hopefully, as a direct result of part one of this ongoing series, on “how” you can and definitely should be constantly looking for ways to effectively utilize your creative asset management opportunities. And hopefully you realize, you don’t have to be a fortune 100 and or 500 company, in order to do so,correct?

Sure, it definitely helps if your company has deep corporate pockets, and a Rolodex full of potential resources, as thick as an old school telephone book (at the ready!)

Or your current balance sheet rivals all the members of the hit TV show “Shark Tank” combined! But let’s face it already! Most cash starved, small business owners and or service providers, don’t have such advantages, now do they?

That’s all the more reason “why” they (you) definitely need to (constantly be on the look out) for some less than conventional ways, to maximize the opportunities that are presented, from the creative use of your asset management skills. Don’t you agree?

In the remainder of this post, we’re definitely going to take a closer look, at three more potential opportunities to do so!

So What Else Can Extremely Savvy Entrepreneurs Do To Make Creative Use Of Their Asset Management Skills?

Picking up where part one left off.Remember that (marketing demographics survey) the savvy car dealership had their customers fill out, for an additional 15% (or X%) off their purchase?

Remember they asked if the single guys, currently had a steady sweetheart? Here’s “why?”

The savvy dealership will find out from the boyfriend, what his current sweetheart’s favorite “song” is? And hopefully, her current radio station plays it! 😎

On (either) Valentines Day and or on her birthday, they will arrange for the boyfriend/fiance to go on air and dedicate her “favorite” song to her! And of course, the dealership will arrange to send flowers, a box of gourmet chocolate, and (the original lady killer) himself!

Yep, you better hurry up and know it! A seven foot teddy bear (along with) an over sized birthday card too!And delivered by special local courier (to either) her job or if she owns her own business, it will be delivered there!

Courtesy of the dealership!Altogether, you’re probably talking about a total perceived value of $325 dollars (give or take!)

First of all, you “know” exactly what will happen when this unannounced courier arrives at her job and or place of business! 😎

And of course, all the other employees (especially the other ladies in the house) will just naturally assume this is from the boyfriend! 😉

And of course by now, if the sweetheart of choice, wasn’t listening to the radio when the boyfriend made that (oh so) romantic dedication to her!

By now at least a dozen (or so) of her relatives and co-workers etc; have called or texted her to tell her he did so! 😉

Who Says All Creative Asset Management Opportunities Have To Come From A Mile Long Balance Sheet?

(Now back to her job and or place of business!) Entrepreneur, “what” do you think the overall reaction will be, once the ladies discover “it” was actually a local car dealership behind this entire promotion?

Where are these ladies going to demand their boyfriends and or husbands, at least go test drive their next car?You got that right! 😎

Let’s take things a step or two further, shall we?

If it turns out, the boyfriend and his sweetheart are officially engaged! Courtesy of the car dealerships local jeweler JV (joint venture partner), the boyfriend will also be given a really nice $200 dollar pair of earrings and or a really eye catching necklace of roughly the same value, (her choice!) And he can decide when and where he wants to give it to her.

But you’d best believe that everywhere she goes, and she’s got on (either) her really nice earrings and or her eye catching necklace, “what” will the other ladies definitely want to know? 😎

Are You Starting To Appreciate How To Get And Keep The Undivided Attention Of Your Ideal Target Audience!

And every time a new set of eyeballs sets foot in her home and or apartment and see “Teddy”, what will they definitely want to know! Now entrepreneur, I gotta ask you, do you really think you’ll ever get that type of long term (positive) word of mouth or mouse buzz, from your fancy PPC (Pay Per Click) ad campaigns? Probably not!

And of course “word” will quickly spread among the boyfriend/fiances crew too! He’ll personally make sure of that!

Here’s the other thing: If either customer (meaning) male or female, indicated they currently work for someone  else, when those flowers gets delivered to the monthly winner of their “Sweetheart” promotion.

Guess what’s also gonna be included in a separate envelope? That’s right? X number of two sided business cards, inviting the ladies to enter the car dealerships chance to “win” the exact same “Sweetheart” prize!

And if they come in and at least test drive a car within ten or X number of days of entering the “free drawing”, they automatically get a $20 dollar gas card, plus they get entered into the drawing a second time! 😎

Now as is customary during this part of our show.

  1. Hi Mark, I can see the huge value in making individual customers feel special. I stuck with my car service and repair shop for many years until I moved a long way out of the area. They didn’t offer specials or discounts and weren’t even the cheapest in the area but if I went in with a small problem (broken lights etc) they’d fix it on the spot with no charge. They’d drive my car home after a service and drive me home after I dropped it off. But, I think the main factor was that they quickly learned my name and would ask after me and the family. No doubt they did this for all of their regular clients but it made me feel special.

  2. Hi Mark,

I love this analogy! Everyone likes to have something “special” either randomly or on an occasion. My car dealer used to do this all the time and guess what? We never shopped around when we needed a new car. All we did was give him a call, told him when we were coming in and we were his loyal customers.

Why? Because he was looking out for our best interest. Not only did he sent us a gift or a card, but he would sit us down and ask us “how’s business?” We would tell him if we had to travel or not and he would suggest the best car suited for our needs.

We never thought twice! We took him on his word and we were always satisfied customers.

It may take something small, but we need to acknowledge our customers and we then become memorable.
