You’d be very wise if you said yes.However, (thank goodness) there is a flip side entrepreneur.
Because (extremely) hard and tireless working entrepreneurs, have been and will most definitely continue to be able to compete with the best of the best.(In most cases!)
Simply because “what” they may lack in so called upfront capital allocation, they more than compensate for it by applying some serious, (take no prisoners) type of sweat equity!And never ending, over the top, go the extra mile customer service!
Which is definitely one of their staple components and should be one of yours/ours as well!
So How Do You Still Make Some Really Big Money Even Though Your Conventional Marketing Budget Is Practically Zero And Or Non Existent?
Let’s say you’re one of those extremely lean, (single location for now) computer repair businesses/ consulting services. Which means, (like it or not) you gotta a ton of incredibly talented and extremely hungry and aggressive competitors!And more on the way! )
And of course, you don’t currently have one of the best locations in town!
You’re gonna have to rely on, (especially in the beginning) some good old fashion sweat equity and strategic joint ventures (here and there) to initially help not only get the positive word of mouth & mouse viral end of things going!But to help rapidly increase your gross profit margins as well!
(Plus, you’ll also be actively cross promoting with some other (local) profit driven businesses as well!)
Here’s a couple of initial instances, they will inexpensively test and tweak, to get the viral positive word of mouth and mouse marketing campaign going.
Just Because Your Marketing Budget Is Practically Zero! (Is That Really A Valid Excuse Not To Systematically Grow Your Business?)
Ladies & gentlemen, (thank goodness) somewhere within your (offline) local community, there are literally tons of other extremely talented, dedicated and extremely open minded, profit driven entrepreneurs, (such as yourself), that have ongoing problems that your business, products & services can definitely help them solve!
And they are desperate for you to find them and help them solve their problems asap!Case in point: there’s the local printer, ( just six blocks away), and they do a really good business, they’ve got great (hands on) customer service and do a really good job!Right?
And as a direct result, their business is literally growing every quarter!But guess what? Practically nobody in their excellent organization, has a real clue about the totally confusing IT (Information Technology) side of their business!
So whenever they have problems, (which is pretty regularly) they have to turn to those geeky techs, (in other words) some of your major local competitors,that routinely charge anywhere from $125– $185 per hour!
Which means, chances are very good entrepreneur, that after you become one of their regular customers, and get on a first name basis with (both them) and some of their upper management team etc.
You could offer the following cross promotion type of opportunity.And you could (launch), initially test it during Small Business Owner Week.
Your business would, (just depending) on the actual size of their retail space, set up a temporary booth called,“Ask The Computer Experts!” Today Only!
You Can Get Your Most Pressing Computer/IT Questions Answered For Free! (This Is Normally A $150 (Or X) dollar per hour value!) And of course, you have a giant punch bowl set up for the business owners/service providers (and if the traffic and demand warrants it.),
You’ll gladly set up a second punch bowl just for the non business owners to enter your “free drawing”, for a chance to win a free and complete comprehensive computer trouble shooting diagnosis/database retrieval!(Or whatever gets them salivating with eager anticipation!
And you can either send the traffic to your mobile responsive WordPress blogs lead capture page, to capture either their opt in email info, (and or) collect their text message info.
Or if you prefer (and you’re still) semi old school
Entrepreneur Please Don’t Let Some Of Your Best Small Business Marketing Ideas Remain Inside Your Head!
And you or someone in the printers organization can create at least two separate databases. That way you can both start periodically sending them (either) follow up snail mail post card, extremely (time sensitive) or select enveloped offers.(As often as you wish BTW!)
Either way, (your initial deal) with the printer is, in exchange for your ongoing weekly and or monthly IT/computer repair expertise/consulting. They either do all of your printing for free or at the printers actual cost.
And you’ll (initially) attempt to make the vast majority of your long term profits by, offering that free initial consultation to their customers, and then seek to secure (either) ongoing monthly and or yearly maintenance/consulting fees arrangements!(Or just capture them as extremely loyal repeat customers!)
And you’ll do so by offering formal consulting arrangements that have absolutely no hidden “lock in” stipulation contingencies of any kind! (Imagine that!)And other than that, they definitely need to agree in writing to provide your company with at least two weeks (ten business days) prior written notice of any cancellation notifications!
And if these periodic “Ask The Computer Experts” day events are a hit!Then the two of you should seriously consider (immediately) making them a staple monthly and or quarterly event.
Especially if they have multiple printing locations! Plus, you’ll give all of their customers, special laminated VIP discount coupon cards, they can renew every 12 months, for just X!
And you’ll gladly do their in home computer repairs/trouble shooting for an ongoing VIP customer discount rate.
And once they give your company a video power testimonial, they automatically get their laminated VIP discount coupon cards renewed for life for free!
