Introducing The Sneaky Little Way Savvy Small Business Owners Gain And Keep Their Competitive Edge!

So have you noticed a certain marketing/promotional pattern, in the way, the vast majority of extremely cash strapped small business owners, and or service providers, consistently go about trying to (consistently) generate, those all important, first time customers, clients and or patients etc.

For some odd reason(s), they almost always literally seemed to be drawn to the most expensive, (and sadly) least effective forms of consistently generating sales.

Meaning; they typically opt for way too expensive mass advertising/promotional ad campaigns of some kind, that in the end, do little more than consistently pad the pockets, of the award driven advertising companies, that sell these (less than effective) traditional adverting platforms.

When often times, for the exact same outlay of upfront cash, (although) it’s not uncommon to pay far less, these exact same (cash strapped) small business owners, and or service providers, could effectively generate a ton more upfront, and long term repeat business, for a fraction of the traditional long term cost.

So What’s This Sneaky Little Way Some Extremely Savvy Small Business Owners Gain And Keep Their Long Term Competitive Edge?

So let’s take your typical, semi under capitalized, single location Mom & pop corner retail store, small business owner.

They typically work, once you include all of the behind the scenes, after store hours work they constantly have to do, in order to make a go of things.

They can easily be facing, anywhere from 60 to 90 plus hours per week!Especially their very first few years in their brand new business venture.

Because practically every day that goes by, they’re learning more and more, which particular vendors consistently provide, the best products and or services, along with the best (ongoing) customer service as well.

And since they’re only averaging a few cents here and there, per item they sell, it’s imperative, they maximize their long term gross profit potential, when and wherever they can. Don’t you agree?

So they would probably be open to discovering, some “battlefield tested” ways, of learning “how to” consistently maximize their long term  profits, without having to (constantly) reach into their long term gross profits, in order to do so!

Really Effective Lead Generation Strategies Are Often Worth Their Weight In Gold! (And Then Some!)

Have you ever noticed how one companies ultimate good fortune, is often another companies mother lode as well?

Case in point; you ever notice whenever the Wall Street big wigs have record breaking years, and their performance bonuses (alone) are seven and eight figure pay days!

The other industries like florists, airlines, country clubs, travel agencies, high end jewelers, real estate agents, upscale car dealerships and department stores of all kinds, (just to name a few),their extreme good fortunes follow suit as well!Ever notice that correlation?  😀

So let’s say there’s a local distribution company, that services the Mom & pop retail stores, throughout the local area. And one of the main products they sell (and provide) some of the Mom & pop retail corner stores is sugar.

And they’re looking for some relatively inexpensive, (albeit) creative ways to help their customers, so they’ll consume more sugar, and therefore need to, (not only) purchase it far more frequently, but also purchase it in far larger quantities as well!

Here’s one potential marketing strategy, they will inexpensively test,in order to see if it provides the bankable results they desire!

They will go out and purchase semi large quantities  of the very best tasting gourmet coffee they can find within their district! Then they will gladly supply it to their Mom & pop retail corner store customers.(Yes for free and or for the exact same price they paid for it!)

Your Small Business Marketing Strategies Should Help Unlock Your Marketing Creativity Not Suppress It!

The (long term) marketing strategy here is simply this, they will encourage the Mom & pop retailers to sell the rather expensive gourmet coffee per cup, on the cheap, in order to entice the true coffee lovers in the immediate area, to frequent their store, where their customers can purchase some of the very best tasting gourmet coffee, for literally pennies on the dollar!

Say for ex; if their immediate coffee loving customers, who live within a few short blocks of their store, normally pay anywhere from $3.79 to $4.99 for a large (or) “Big Gulp” cup, of  extremely good tasting gourmet coffee (practically) everywhere else in the city and or town etc!

Because the Mom & pop retailer are being given the coffee,(for either) free and or at actual cost. The retailer is highly encouraged to sell their large cups for just $.99 cents per cup or less!

Because when they take such a long term marketing approach, two really cool things happen! Actually three!

1.) First: The Mom & pop store will consistently attract their immediate gourmet coffee lovers to their store, as opposed to constantly driving across town, to a specialty shop! Right?

And you best  believe, for that type of super discounted price, those local gourmet coffee loving individuals, will constantly keep, both the on and offline, positive word of mouth & mouse campaigns going strong!

Who Says Small Business Owners Can’t Be Major Players In Their Local Markets!

2.) Second: While that super discounted price, initially draws these individuals into the retailers store, they’ll definitely make additional purchases, practically each time they stop in to purchase some great tasting gourmet coffee and or tea or lemonade etc!Don’t you agree?

You throw in all of those additional purchases, over a 52 week year, and ethically bribe those local gourmet coffee loving customers to keep coming back, over and over again!

And the extremely marketing savvy-local- distributor, has just discovered a genius way, to get their Mom & pop retail store customers, to purchase more sugar in larger and larger quantities!

And far more frequently as well!Make sense? If so, that’s the sneaky little way, some of the extremely savviest small business owners, gain and keep their competitive edge!Any questions? Now as is customary during this part of our show.

  1. It’s true. Offer a low priced product to get a new lead or customer for your business. If you have other products that offer great value as well, you can make as many upsells as you like. Once you get that buying customer in your store, you can make many sales. It’s quite similar to online marketing as well. Nice post. I had to read it twice to get the full message from it.
