Because by doing so, ever notice when something gets temporarily and or permanently stretched,(either) physically and or mentally, it almost never ever returns to it’s former original state!
So it’s my sincere hope and utmost desire, that this brief trip down creative marketing possibility lane will permanently stretch your creative marketing mind, to what’s really possible, with regards to some really creative asset management possibilities!
Who Else Wants To Know How Creative Asset Management Can Put Some really Big Money In Your Pocket?
Okay, let’s do some really expansive creative thinking for just a second, shall we? Entrepreneur see if you can follow and appreciate this first expansive marketing example of some really creative asset management, on the part of a major corporation.
Many years ago, a major corporation cruise ship business, by anticipating the inevitable continued growth and ever increasing popularity of their industry.
They wisely invested millions in, (at the time) a rather obscure undeveloped strip of promising land near the Bahamas.(Basically an uninhabited island.)
Think of this as a major warehouse, that’s currently empty, but it’s at least three times the size of a major NFL football stadium!(In reality it’s much bigger than that!)
But rather than invest literally hundreds of millions, if not billions more to build all the needed infrastructure.Instead they strategically turned to other futuristic thinking corporations, and pointed out to companies like the multi billion dollar Marriott hotel chain, how it would be in their best long term interest to, (not only) build a major hotel resort there, but help fund the overall general infrastructure as well!
And thus, over a ten year period, that once obscure island, that was also an undeveloped ideal island.Over time developed into one of the major stops,
for not only this major cruise line, but soon after many, many others!
After all, it offered upscale gifts shops, an exclusive major hotel agreement with the Marriott hotel chain,bakeries and some of the most popular fast food chains in the world!
A rather nice supermarket and practically every other amenity the other popular islands near the Bahamas had. But here’s the best part. Every current and future business on the island. First of all they paid their fair share of relevant taxes and fees, did they not?
And Marriott’s, along with several other major corporations, also paid a rather large annual, multi million dollar exclusivity tax, in order to remain the main hotel attraction on the island!
Plus, wherever the major cruise ship line’s well to do passengers went ashore, along with all the other major cruise ships that quickly added this steadily growing in popularity, quaint island destination to their itineraries as well.
Guess what? All those taxes paid on good and services, plus annual multi million dollar shopping sprees, from all those steady flow of tourists from literally all over the world, went right into the cruise ship owners pockets!
Because (remember) they owned the island! 😎 Now do you see “how” that empty warehouse analogy mentioned earlier, is transformed into an extremely valuable asset?
So What’s Does Creative Asset Management Have To Do With Any of This?
So let’s quickly use a really graphic sports analogy, to hopefully demonstrate the exact same overall marketing principles and concepts!And hopefully s-t-r-e-t-c-h your concept of marketing possibilities, just a little farther!What da ya say?
So picture this really nice, (world class) hotel, conveniently located somewhere in the sunny Florida keys, less than two miles from a (world class) golf course complex!
Probably none of those around, right? 😎 Anyway, the owners and marketing directors, get this wild idea for an over the top promotion, mega money making marketing opportunity!
So here’s what they do! Their super savvy PR/marketing people reach out to golfing superstar “Tiger Woods” super savvy PR/Agent and super savvy marketing people.And here’s what they propose.
They’re willing to pay old “Tiger”, upfront a cool $500,000 dollars, for a measly eight hours of his time!Huh? They want Tiger to host a one day “exclusive” private golf lessons event they’re sponsoring!
And they want to film it and who knows do what with it later! 😎 (Yea right!) And here’s “how” they want “Tiger” and his two other world class mystery guest golf instructors, to strategically promote the event!
Since as of this writing, even though it’s literally been a few years since Tigers won a major PGA (Professional Golfers Association) event!Believe it or not, incredibly Tiger still has a staggering 4.81 million twitter followers!And counting!
Turns Out There Just Might Be Something To This Creative Asset Management Stuff! (Don’t You Agree?)
So they want Tiger and his two personally hand picked mystery golf instructor guest, to both mention this once in a lifetime event all over their social sites, plus mention it in every upcoming every radio, TV and or magazine interview they do!
They want them to direct all their fans to this major hotel chains special lead capture page on their mobile friendly WordPress blog. So they can enter their once in a lifetime “free drawing”, for a chance to be one of ten selected special quest, to hang out with Tiger and company for one full day and be personally Coached and Mentored by them, for eight full hours!
It’s an all expenses paid, first class, round trip airfare, two day event!
They’ll be given 24 hour unlimited free room service, and a real celebrity style continental breakfast, lunch, dinner and another continental breakfast the following morning, before they head back home!So they can continuously brag to all their friends, family and colleagues from now on etc! 😎
They get to take autographed pictures with both Tiger and his two mystery guest world class golfing instructors!And they get to post them all over social media!(and are highly encouraged to do so!)
The only thing they can’t do is try and sell them and or monetize them in any way! And in order to be eligible to participate, they have to sign a notarized written agreement!
Now between Tiger and his two world class mystery guest golf instructors, lets say they have a grand total of at least seven million, extremely active twitter followers! So when they all blast this free drawing announcement on their respective social sites and elsewhere.
Let’s say two million people leap at the chance to be one of the ten chosen grand prize winners!
The major hotel chooses and announces the ten extremely lucky winners on their blog and that’s that,right? Not quite! 😎
They also (immediately send a series of four strategic follow up emails, (and or text messages) promoting their live stream of the entire 17 total hours offer exclusive event, for a small one time fee of just $29.95!
And out of two million subscribers, let’s say 500,000 of them grab this live stream!
