Now that you’ve had a chance to read and re-read part one of this ongoing series. Hopefully you now better appreciate and realize the long term profit generating potential of marketing by email, correct? Great. Good answer.
Because there are at least 3-5 local non directly competing vendors, you or your major competitors could allow them to periodically send their opt in email or text message subscribers, one of your very best marketed tested, extremely time sensitive, first time customer only gift certificates or discount coupons.
And whether you or your major competitors don’t currently have access to your own, paid, state of the art email service provider. You can still systematically generate some all important first time customers. For literally pennies on the dollar.
And don’t forget. A certain percentage of these first time customers, will definitely become long term repeat customers, right? Absolutely. Plus a certain percentage of them will constantly and enthusiastically refer you or or your major competitors more 1st time customers, right? For sure.
And to think all of these new first time customers initially came about. Via strategic, (not to mention) inexpensive email or text message marketing. And you don’t even have access to any type of paid email service provider. Say what? How’s that for creative marketing?
So Are You Wondering How Do You Measure The Effectiveness Of Your Email Marketing Strategies?
Great question. Obviously if (for whatever) reasons you still don’t currently have your own paid email or text message service account just yet. And you’re allowing other non directly competing vendors to periodically send some of your best, market tested, extremely time sensitive gift certificates or discount coupons etc.
Then clearly this particular strategy beats doing little or nothing. But you or your major competitors are not fully in control, are you? But still. Suppose you approach ten local, non directly competing vendors, who are currently long term repeat customers of yours.
And 30% of them. Or three of them agree to start periodically sending their current and future opt in email or text message subscribers.
One of your best, extremely time sensitive, market tested gift certificates or discount coupons. Or a coupon or flyer they create, but you have to approve it before they can send or hand it it out.
You don’t actually control when or “how’ often the emails are sent. Correct? You may decide to have pre- Thanksgiving, pre Christmas, pre- New Years or pre- Mothers, pre- Fathers or pre- or Valentines Day sale.
And send your entire list, an extremely time sensitive, market tested gift certificate or discount coupon. But if you don’t currently have your own opt in email or text message list.
You can’t do it. Because the non directly v\competing vendors may have other plans or other marketing/promotional commitments. Right? (BTW, check out this example of an extremely time sensitive, (1st time customer only) discount coupon. Which built in less than five minutes using Aweber’s rather basic editor.)
Having Your Own Opt In Email Or Text Message Subscriber Base Gives You Or Your Major Competitors Far More Control!
In case you didn’t already know. Aweber now has a brand new offer for their 1st time customers. (Get this.) Now you can open a free account. And, ( obviously) there are certain restrictions on the use of their free service.
But here’s the all important marketing rub. For you or your major competitors to seriously consider. Even though you can only create one main list while your account is free.
Suppose. Using the same scenario of a single location, non franchised Mom & pop bakery. They open a free account with Aweber. (Please watch the video embedded in this particular post. For all of the exciting details.)
And they create, (or pay someone to create a lead capture/sign up form for them. Using Aweber’s free editor. And Aweber (along with) several other reputable email service providers. Also provides free hosting of the lead capture page. (Meaning: you don’t have to pay a third party to host your capture page. Aweber includes this service at no additional cost to their paid or free users.
Even while using their free account. (Extremely important note.) This is not standard web hosting. Aweber merely provides hosting for their lead capture pages only.
Thank Goodness You Don’t Always Have To Do Things The Potentially Expensive Traditional Way!
Case in point. When open a free account. Aweber allows you or your major competitors to build your opt in email list up to your first 500 subscribers for free. Once you exceed 500 subscribers or you send over three thousand email messages in any month.
Then you start paying just $19.95 per month. Until your subscriber base exceeds 2,500. However, follow this next train of (marketing) thought very carefully.
Let’s say your popular monthly free drawing for the 1st grand prize winner, to win a free deluxe birthday cake package.(Typically valued at $50 dollars.) Which targets local parents or legal guardians of kids ages 7-12. Or X to X.There are two trains of thoughts:
1.) First: Let’s say the bakeries opt in email subscriber base gets up to 419. (Not quite 500 right?) But guess what? Even with their free account. They could either send some of their best market tested, extremely time sensitive gift certificates or 1st time customer discount coupons to their entire list.
And also offer ethical bribes, to every potential first time subscriber who drags a friend with them whose at least 18.
And start generating some front end gross profits. Even though their email account is still free of charge. Because their subscriber base hasn’t exceeded 500 yet. Is that not interesting?
Don’t Or Stopping Letting So Called Tradition Stand In Your Way!
2.) Second: Next. They could also periodically send other non directly competing vendors extremely time sensitive offers to their subscribers. And either negotiate a front end JV (Joint Venture) revenue sharing split of 25-50% of the first sale.
Or just charge the non directly competing vendors a flat fee of just X amount per month or quarter. And let their JV partners keep 100% of all the sales revenue generated.
This way, now the bakery or retail or service provider X, can go ahead and pro-actively build their opt in email list. So when or if they do eventually exceed 500 subscribers. And start paying fore their account. They’ll have more than enough coming in to cover their monthly cost to use Aweber’s paid service.
Either way. Are you starting to better appreciate how some type of strategic marketing by email definitely makes sense? Agreed.
There’s Definitely More Than One Way For You Or Your Competitors To Profit From Marketing By Email! (Don’t You Agree?)
