As you previously discovered in part one, there are literally tons of unconventional ways to get more business, right? For sure! And it really boils down to, picking your poison and getting (and keeping) after it! Don’t you agree?
No rocket science needed here! Particularly interesting was (marketing concept # four), in part one of this series, which was strategically capitalizing off the “exit” traffic at various live events! Because this type of proven unconventional marketing approach can and will lead to some serious (previously) untapped passive profits. Don’t you agree?
Case in point: think about one of the world’s largest (and most) successful retailers. and in spite of the fact they annually gross billions worldwide! Look at how little they actually do to effectively mine the untapped gold in their daily “exit traffic.”
Talk About Some Truly Simple Ways To Get More Business!
Did you know, that one of the worlds most successful retailers (averages) about a 138 million visitors per week! That’s correct! On average Walmart has 138 million of the faithful come and spend money on various levels, every single week, that their open. (Or if you prefer, that averages out to a cool 19.7 million shoppers per day!)
Why is this significant you ask? Because (on average) that means 19.7 million chances for (not only Walmart), but other extremely savvy marketers to cash in big time on their daily ‘exit traffic!’
For ex: the following extremely powerful marketing example, is strictly for creative marketing idea stimulation purposes only!
Have you ever (or recently) shopped at Walmart’s? If you have, then the following scenario, probably sounds familiar. After you check out, with items and receipt in hand, you head for the nearest exit, correct?
And they typically have those (mostly pleasant) attendants stationed there to do one some of final check or something, correct? (mind you, not all Walmart’s adhere to this particular strategy, but some do.)
Anyway, what if instead of just quickly checking your receipt against the items in your shopping cart or bag etc.
They also did the following three pleasantly unexpected things as well!
A.) First, they basically break all 19.7 million of their (worldwide) daily shopping traffic into three basic segments.
1.) People (based on their receipt) that spent under $100 dollars.
2.) People that spent over $100 dollars, but less than $500 dollars.
3.) People that spent over $500 dollars.
And Walmart will do something extremely cool (and totally unexpected) for all three categories of spenders, each and everyday, to help really stimulate more immediate repeat customers, more positive comments and “likes” on their FB fan pages and more stimulate their repeat customers spending a little more each time as well!
How You Or Walmart Can Strategically Take Advantage Of These Unconventional Ways To Get More Business!
Here’s how you (or Walmart) will start creating some serious (on and offline) positive social buzz, literally for pennies on the dollar. Currently (on average) Walmart spends about $2.5 billion annually on traditional advertising mediums!
So they can easily afford to divert tens of millions of their annual ad budget, to stimulate repeat customers, that spend even more money per subsequent visit.
B.) For the people that spent under $100 dollars, they will get a Walmart $10 dollar gift certificate, that expires (just) five days after the hand date stamp that’s stamped on it.
C.) For the people that spent between $100 -$499 dollars, they automatically get a $50 dollar gas card, plus (their chose) of either a $50 dollar Walmart gift certificate or a $50 dollar gift certificate to either a local Apple Bees or the nearest TGIF”S (Thank God It’s Friday.)
1.) And for that tiny one percent of the daily 19.7 million of daily shoppers (or) one hundred ninety thousand shoppers that spent over $500 dollars.
Well, Walmart (or Costco’s or Target etc.) will roll out the red carpet! Those shoppers (the valued 20%) that routinely account for 80% of all long term profits for all small business owners (and or) service providers, just like you!
First, they’ll get a $100 dollar gas card, plus a $100 dollar Walmart gift card too!
Think about the logic here. If these valued one per centers can afford to spend $500 dollars or more on any given visit. It’s a good bet, they probably know and travel (in the same) financial circles, of others that can do the same!
So the back of their special VIP $100 dollar gift certificates will direct them to a special page on Walmart’s state of the art WordPress blog and have them fill out a short ten question VIP customer profile!
Walmart will discover their marital status, and wedding anniversary (if that applies! They’ll discover their birthday or birth dates, if their married etc.
And they’ll start sending a dozen roses and gourmet candy on both their spouses birth dates, Valentines Day and wedding anniversaries etc!
Because these one per centers (more than likely), are not only active on social media sites like FB and twitter etc. But they’ll relay their good fortune in their social circles as well!
So the main point is, find or create inexpensive (non conventional) ways to get more business! That are often right under your nose! don’t you agree?
