Savvy Entrepreneurs Don’t Try To Create A Starving Crowd They Just Get In Front Of A Ready Made One!

Entrepreneur,  does the name Gary Halbert ring a bell?

The late great Gary Halbert, is wildly considered and recognized as, not only, arguably one of, (if not) the greatest direct response copy writers ever!

Then certainly, one of the top three of all time!

And entrepreneurs, from all walks of life, from practically every major continent on the globe, readily recognize Gary Halbert, as one of their major, direct response copy writing influences!

In fact, many of today’s greatest, iconic copy writing/ marketing legends, such Dan Kennedy, John Carlton and Craig Garber, (just to name a few), all three of these contemporary legendary copy writing marketing icons, in their own right.

Readily acknowledge Gary Halbert, as being one of their major influences, if not copy writing mentor!

In just a moment, you’ll discover “why” one of Gary’s most famous sayings, is so completely relevant to (both) your current and future entrepreneurial journey.

And no it doesn’t matter, “how” you primarily market your business, products or and services, on or offline….

So here’s just a small sample, of the (extreme) marketing wisdom, of the late great Gary Halbert. Gary was known and widely recognized for, conducting this, (now) famous survey,in many of his exclusive,more advanced, offline copy writing/marketing fundamentals workshops.

Gary would routinely ask his fairly sophisticated audience, (if) given the choice, and they could choose only one seeming advantage, over their major competitors, if they were starting a brand new restaurant in their local area.

What pray tell, one potential advantage,would they choose, to hopefully use to dominate their major (local) competitors!

And of course, as he went around the room, carefully (surveying) his (not necessarily) brand new to (both) business ownership, and or entrepreneurship based audience.

To a point, he’d always hear the usual suspects, (in terms) of stock answers, routinely and in most cases, confidently shouted out!

Extremely Successful Entrepreneurs Would Rather Position Themselves Instead Of Pitching Themselves!(And You Should Too!)

You know, (the typical stock answers), such as ” the best recipes,the most money, or the best location, the best tasting food,a secret sauce,or the best employees, or best management team money can buy”, etc.

And while Gary would always acknowledge, the vast majority of their stock answers, for the most part, had some basic elements of truth to them!

He would then go on to confidently explain to his audience, (given) his choice, to choose his one potential advantage, over all others, he would enthusiastically embrace, having a starving crowd, that preferred his choice of cuisine!Huh?

In other words, rather than trying to create “demand”, instead, he preferred to simply go where the demand already existed, and then spend and invest, the majority of his time and resources, trying to position his business, products, and or services, in front of them!Hello!

Successful Entrepreneurs Go Where The Major Demand Already Exists!

 (Instead Of Wasting Their Extremely Valuable Time And Resources Trying To Create It!)

Closer to home entrepreneur, some of today’s extremely savviest entrepreneurs,constantly look for and attempt to monetize, existing marketing leverage!

And so should you! Because, for one thing, it’s (typically) a gazillion times cheaper, upfront and, it’s usually, a ton more profitable, both over the short & long term!Case in point: Let’s consider the (multi billion) dollar a year car leasing industry. Entrepreneur, on a typical day, (care to guest) on average, “how” many men, (ages) 19- 65), lease or rent a car per day! (Luxury or otherwise!)

Literally millions, right? My friends, (there’s your) ready made starving crowd! Huh?

Now (of course), from  a marketing stand point, the exact same situation, applies to the ladies as well!(Translated: potential marketing opportunity a plenty!)

Anyway, (why doesn’t) or hasn’t, an extremely savvy, (not to mention) extremely well financed florist, (along) with a few extremely savvy joint venture partners, aggressively monetize this all too common marketing opening!

Have You Noticed How Some Of The Best Entrepreneurial Ideas Are Usually Based Around  Effectively Utilizing Various Forms Of Marketing Leverage?

Here’s how; when these unsuspecting gentlemen place their car rental/lease request. And as soon as all the necessary paper work clears, and they enter the car to head off into the sunset!

(Either) taped to the steering wheel, (and or) simply left on the drivers seat, will be either be a two sided flyer, (and or) taped to the steering wheel, (will be) one of the florists, best market tested, two sided index cards.

And it will direct these gentlemen to rush over to some specific,mobile responsive WordPress blog lead capture page, for a chance to enter this free monthly drawing, for a shot at winning ($5,000 or $10,000)  dollars worth of universal gas cards!

(Universal meaning), there will definitely be some gas station, that accepts these gas card coupons,  no matter where or what part of the country, you happen to live in, and or, you happen to be currently traveling, and or vacationing in etc.

Ever Notice How Some really Simple Small Business Marketing Ideas Can Lead To Some Major Profits!

First of all, (entrepreneur) do you agree, that type of fairly attractive lead magnetwill definitely help to rapidly build a massive, opt in email/ text message list!

Probably, (well into the) millions! Over say, the next 12 to 18 month or less! Absolutely! And keep in mine, only “one” extremely lucky gentlemen per month, out of the literal millions that enter the free drawing,will be named that months first prize “grand winner!”

Also bare in mind, this list also definitely includes, (but is by no means) limited to their, daughter(s), grand daughters, sister(s), sister in law(s), Moms, personal secretaries and (administrative assistants) etc!

And the more flowers, gourmet candies and over sized cards they want to send per year, the bigger their overall discount savings and free bonus goodies are!

Entrepreneur, the main (overall) point is this! Do you “see how” this type of  proven,long range marketing approach, simply leverages a ready made starving crowd!

Instead of constantly spending an outrageous fortune, trying to create, and or find, or build one from scratch!Good! See in part two, in just a little bit!

    Yes, I do remember Gary. I can clearly recall him talking about how people struggle online because no one finds what they are offering worth buying. I lot of folks think it is their marketing alone. Gary talked about how, if his offer was burgers, he just needed a starving crowd.

    Everyone could prevent a lot of hassle if they just kept it simple. Don’t try to sell ice to Eskimos–just sells space heaters. Uh…I think I’m saying that incorrectly. There is lots of junk sold over the internet though. Perhaps selling a service or product that people see and say ‘I want that’ is not a no-brainer?

  2. Great post Mark. Why fix something that isn’t broken. They simply find an idea that’s known to be effective and life-changing and work on improving that. There’s no need to re-invent the wheel.
