How Some Extremely Savvy Entrepreneurs Lower Advertising Costs While Dramatically Increasing Their Profits!

So have you ever noticed “how” some extremely dedicated small business owners and or entrepreneurs, even though they are beyond dedicated (and) sincere, about running a successful business and or service.

For whatever reason(s), they just don’t currently think logically about the math of running their business.

Case in point, (initially) anyway, they are far too comfortable, winging (guesstimating) their numbers, (ongoing costs) of running their business/ service, instead of actually tracking them and knowing for sure.

And as a direct result of this form, of business Russian roulette, the chances they are constantly taking, with regards to “how” much their business/service, can actually afford to spend, to try and consistently generate brand new first time customers, patients and or clients, varies wildly from month to month!

In fact, they (more times) than not, tend to base their final decisions, on “how” much they personally like any given approach, as opposed to, whether or not, their current business operating capital, can actually afford it!

Which for the record, (is a huge) all too common mistake!The remainder of this post is dedicated to resolving this one recurring issue!

So How Many Serious Entrepreneurs Wouldn’t Wanna Know How To Dramatically Lower Their Advertising Costs While Simultaneously Increasing Their Long Term Profits?

This first situation, (often) has me (personally) scratching my head. Here’s an all too typical way of thinking, that ultimately torpedo’s far too many (wannabe) entrepreneurs dreams, of successful small business ownership!

Just for marketing illustration purposes only, (let’s) use a local, (single location), Mom & Pop pizzeria, that finally decides to try their hand (and) advertising budget, at direct snail mail.

So after footing the upfront, out of pocket cost for type setting, postage, (and let’s) not forget, the initial set up fees etc.

They finally settle on, (what else), the second most expensive option available, which includes a really slick looking, fancy two colored, two sided post card style mailing.

And by in large, after all the marketing smoke clears, (at best) they can probably look for a dismal response, of  anywhere, from 1.5% or less.

And since they decided to mail about 5,000 of these (DOA) dead on arrival style post cards, they will probably lose (anywhere) from 9098% of their initial investment, all in the name of having a good looking image!

Your Resourced Challenged Small Business And Or Service Simply Can’t Afford To Focus Primarily On It’s Image!

And reap very little, if any business, anywhere near enough, initial gross front end profit, to cover their upfront out of pocket cost.

And yet, given the opportunity, they’ll eagerly repeat this losing proposition, (in some form or another), again and again!

When there are several, potentially viable marketing alternatives, (to) if nothing else, inexpensively test, on a smaller scale first, and then roll out any particular winners.

But the obvious losers, or severely marginal ad campaigns, (like the one previously  discussed above), can be readily identified, and stopped before they cause any more damage.

Ever Notice How Some Of The Very Best Small Business Marketing Strategies Dramatically Reduce Your Costs As Well As Simultaneously Increase Your Overall Profits?

Here’s one of the major flaws, with your typical, (cash challenged) small business owner/service provider,attempting to use direct snail mail (post card) type marketing approaches, to generate, brand new first time customers/patients and or clients etc.

It’s way too darn expensive, because with just five lines of copy or less, you’ve gotta convince a completely cold, (and usually) total stranger, to do  business with you, or your entire mailing, is basically a bust! Ouch!

Not to be (completely) misunderstood here! For sure there is a definitely (A.) A place and or, (B.) A role for (direct) snail mail in your long term marketing plan, (but) using it to try and convert complete strangers into buying customers/patients and or clients, on the very first mailing, is simply not one of them!

There Are Definitely Some Proven Ways For Your Small Business And Or Service To Monetize Your Very Best Customers And Or Clients!

Here’s a partially viable marketing alternative they could inexpensively test, they could offer (their paying) customers, the chance to (lock in), the super discounted price of pre- paying for six (or ) ten, large cans of soda, and pay the pizzeria’s and or Chinese/ Mexican restaurants actual cost for them.

But, pay the regular prices for everything else they purchase! With the main point being, “if” they buy a pre paid “lock in” price for whatever, they will most certainly buy more of the restaurants food, otherwise, it makes absolutely no sense, to “lock in” the price of those large sodas, correct?  😀

Notice a really big difference in this particular promotional strategy vs paying for an advertising campaign upfront, and then hoping to recoup their money later on down the road!

Who Says Your Small Business And O Service Can’t Dramatically Increase Your Cash Flow Without Raising Your Overall Expenses As Well!

In the second marketing strategy, they only offer it (upfront) to their current paying customers, (and if) for whatever reasons, the customer doesn’t want to pay the pre paid “lock in” price of X, your business is not out of any money!Not so with the fancy post card mailing, right?

Hey, you inexpensively test it, and the very worst that can happen, you quickly discover you don’t need to put another nickel or resource, into funding this loser!

My friend, “how” are you able to determine that, utilizing the first alternative?Hopefully, you can see and appreciate the major differences, in those two approaches!

Your Small Business And Or Service Doesn’t Have To Remain Cash Starved!

On the other hand, once they “lock in” the price of those large sodas, (or X commodity), they will return six or ten more times to your restaurant, to be sure and get their money’s worth!

And that’s how some of today’s savviest entrepreneurs, dramatically lower their upfront, out of pocket costs and simultaneously increase their overall gross profits! Any questions?Now as is customary during this part of our show.

    After reading your helpful post, I’m reminded of this saying: ‘A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush’

    Often times business owners focus too much on bringing in new customers (at great expense sometimes) whilst neglecting the gold they already have in the form of their existing customers.

    You cite some good examples of how a business can increase the average sale value for zero cost.
