How Being So Indecisive Is Literally Holding Your Business Hostage!

So entrepreneur, (I gotta ask you), what pray tell, is it exactly, that has you in yet another mental gymnastic pickle today? Oh admit already! You’re constantly being so indecisive, whether you wanna readily admit or not!

It’s really taken a toll on you,(and those around you) in more ways than one.Because now, practically every time you need to make some sort of semi important and or critical decision, you’re more than just a bit little hesitant! For this reason and or that!

In fact, it’s getting to the point, you literally talk yourself out of: (A.) Shooting that very first on screen “how to” video for your business!Remember! (B.) Or you routinely mentally talk yourself out of even attempting to write another blog post!

(C.) And just yesterday you somehow totally convinced yourself not to even attempt securing any “guest blog post!” (D.) And lately, you’re starting to wonder “if” maybe it’s time to head in a completely different direction, with a whole new blog!

And on and on you go!Sound familiar? Come on and admit it already! You definitely see the pattern here, right? From your business to your personal life, it’s getting to the point, you can’t or simply won’t allow yourself to move ahead, without first turning mental somersaults, over and over again!Entrepreneur, why is that?…

So How Does Being So Indecisive Literally Hold You And Therefore Your Business Hostage?

For starters, you think or want a new premium (paid) theme of some kind. yet you literally agonize over which one for days or weeks on in!What’s up wit that?

Need more evidence? You also constantly agonize over whether or not you should, make any decision at all! And “what if” you should happen to make the wrong decision! My oh my!

Or what if you don’t make “the right” decision in time? Are you a little dizzy yet?  Or is it just me? Hey I get it already! Nobody, (including me) wants to be rushed and whined up making a rather hasty decision, that could (and probably will) come by to bite you!

But ladies & gentlemen, you can’t live your entire life, constantly second guessing yourself to no end!Because “what” ultimately starts to happen is, practically every situation that presents itself, will require you to start jumping through your (self created) mental hoops!

Isn’t It High Time You Escaped And Or Paroled From Yourself From Indecisive Prison Hell!

Hey maybe you shouldn’t have chosen that initial (not so reputable) web host to begin with, but the good news is, now you definitely know better and you can move on from here, right?

Or maybe you should have sent that broadcast email, against your (so called) better judgement, because you agonized writing it for over 40 minutes! But no instead, you convinced yourself (once again) that “what if” sending it causes a subscriber to unsubscribe!

You know, if you don’ get a grip on this phobia or whatever it is, that’s causing this endless mental grid lock you’re currently in!

Both you and therefore your business, are going to literally be held hostage, and unfortunately there is no for see able parole date scheduled!

Don’t keep second guessing yourself right out of business!Because unless you get off that track asap, that’s where this habitual train of thought, is ultimately taking you! And that would truly be a shame!

Because all of the potential customers and clients you, (and only you) could have reached! And definitely helped!

It won’t happen, because you’re so busy, (make that) obsessed with trying to have practically every issue both ways!News flash! It ain’t gonna happen! So get over it already!

So entrepreneur it’s my sincere hope, that you’re starting to see and appreciate, “how”  constantly being so indecisive is literally holding you and therefore your business hostage! Any questions? Now as is customary during this part of our show.

  1. Hi Mark,

As entrepreneurs, we need to get ourselves o the point where we are comfortable making decisions.

It doesn’t really matter whether they are good or bad because quite honestly a bad decision is better than no decision, a bad decision means you took a shot at something and failed but the state of indecision is a state or perpetual failure without even trying.

The bottom line therefore is to learn from our mistakes and failures.

Thanks for sharing, I appreciate this piece.

  2. Well said oh wise one! Most people honestly don’t realize that not making a decision is in fact a decision itself – you’re choosing to stay frozen right where you are. And you are so right about indecisiveness being a problem, but not just in business in every area of life. Becoming a good decision maker takes practice, but you have to take that first step so thanks for the great reminder and tips Mark!

  3. Mark,

There’s a careful line between careful and indecisive (I’ve actually got a blog post going up about that tomorrow inspired by an ongoing major career decision). The key is to not just make intelligent decisions, but to refine the process of making decisions. A decision is there, and then it’s done, for better or worse, but part of owning a business or freelancing is making decisions day after day.

Some will be good, some will be bad, and no one decision is likely to make or break you, but the aggregate of all of them most certainly will.

Thanks for the great post, and good on you for giving folks the push they might need.

    • That’s so true Connor.

And it seems, those that ultimately enjoy some level of
continuous success,it’s not if (as you so wisely pointed out) whether or
not they will invariably make a few bad decisions along the way!

That’s a given! Its whether or not they can learn to overcome the mental
anguish of constantly having to make decisions!

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by
and share your extremely valuable input! I truly appreciate it!

  4. Hey Mark,

Indecisiveness is a major thing that a lot of people go through. Even myself recently with trying to decide whether to try to do podcasting again or create videos. I’ve yet to make the decision lol, but will make my decision shortly. As I’m trying to figure out what will work best for my audience.

    Great post.

Thanks for setting the bar so high, that the rest of us get the pleasure of scrambling
      trying to keep it up!LOL!

So clearly my post is not directly to the doers among us, such as yourself!

It’s for those that chronically try and find any reason whatsoever, not to have to
make any type of meaningful decisions!

For fear of making the wrong one!!Let’s hope this post helps!LOL!

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts!I’m truly honored and
your extremely helpful input is always welcome and greatly appreciated!!
